I sat on this one for a while and feel TERRIBLE about it. The author reached out and I snagged it on KU and there it sat. With life interfering, it got pushed down and I forgot about it honestly. I was going through my requests back in December and realized this one slipped through. I still have about 4 books that I need to finish. I had hoped to do it before 2018, but life happened again. Holiday’s and then trying to bounce back from the flu! Oy Vey!
Back to the book at hand. This is an interesting supernatural read. I have to honestly say I was intrigued and the type of shifter Gabriel is, well that was fun to read about. I only hope book two we get even more about their shifter heritage and background.
Darcy is content living in her own little world and just being social when absolutely necessary. She has been on her own for so long, and has acquired some quirks that make her unique.
Gabriel is an enigma that crashes in to Darcy’s world. For me, he grew a lot in this story. Trying to keep secrets in close quarters will be his downfall. He will have a lot to overcome and in the end an internal battle of which way is right.
Overall this was a good story. I had some trouble getting in to it from the beginning, but it did pick up and move along as the story unfolded. I think there was a lot of back story to be told and that was part of what made it slower for me. I definitely want to get book 2 and check it out because I am intrigued.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first story by this author. I overall enjoyed the story, and while it was a 4 star read for me, I do intend to grab book two. This one just took longer than I like to hook, line, and sink me in to the story. It was a little slow but I honestly feel that relates to the need to divulge the back story and lay framework for the series. There are questions that are not answered and I’m hoping carry over in to book 2 for a resolution. It definitely has made me want to know what happens.
Darcy was a fun female lead. She was unique and refreshing. I actually really liked the character and all the nuances she has about her. As the story evolves, we find out even more about her. My heart actually went out to her. She grew and found herself with Gabriel. It was refreshing to watch her become stronger on her own and with a man.
Gabriel didn’t need the trouble of a girl. What he needed was to recover. Some of the secrets were revealed about him and I feel there is so much more waiting to happen.
Again, it was a different read for me and not in a bad way. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new type of shifter read, to check this one out.
