This is a short story so my post will be brief. Romi is a fairly new author for me and this is the second book I’ve read. I have to be honest, after enjoying three of the stories in her boxed set, this one fell flat for me. I think there is great potential in Romi and I know it’s not easy to be an author, but this one left me with more confusion.

I think there was great promise in this story. A billionaire who is bull-headed in the professional world thinks he can act the same in his personal affairs. Zander needed to consume not just a slice, but the whole humble pie. It felt like a lot of his interaction with Maya were transactions and cat & mouse games. I couldn’t fathom some of his actions in this story.

Maya… I tried to like her, but just couldn’t. She gave in to the cat & mouse game and was SO wishy-washy. I don’t mind naivete in a female that is young, but this felt like trivial drama and childish antics.

This story was very choppy for me to read. That is actually the main reason for the low stars. The plot wasn’t clear and it didn’t flow at all. While the trope was a good idea to write about, I felt more continuity within the story would have made it a more enjoyable read. Part of the confusion for me was Zander’s past. It felt very disconnected with where it was placed in the story.

This blogger also knows there was a lot of negativity with some scandalous parts. This is just my thoughts, so take them or leave them. There was a lot of cheating and threesome moments in the version I read. I know things have since been removed. While cheating is not something I actively seek out in a story, it was present here. This, however, was a lot of REALLY bad judgment on Zander’s part and I found it as unnecessary drama for this blogger to read. The threesome section… I had to ask myself ‘why was this placed here?’ It didn’t fit in the story to me at all.
