Death Chaser’s return and we dive head first in the world of mayhem and craziness. If you haven’t checked out CM’s MC series, then definitely give it a read. It’s unlike the others that I have read (and I’ve read a ton) and not in a bad way, just in a way that is uniquely CM.
There was a bit of confusion at the beginning of this story. CM did distinguish between the time passage and honestly if you don’t read the first two in the series first you won’t be lost. Part of Maya and Axle’s story takes place in the middle of Property of Drex. I found this one had a lot more humor to it. There were dark moments but so much of it was masked by a lot of humor. This is a trait of CM’s that makes her stories her own.
Maya aside from Sara is my favorite character. I like how she copes, because lets face it how she is, is a direct coping mechanism for all she has endured. While she is not normal she has so many secret strengths and talents.
Axle was a complete mystery and frankly quite angry a lot of the time. He coped in a completely different way from Maya but none the less had this mask to survive.
By far my favorite of the story is Maya and Sara’s relationship. There is something there that is a bond nobody expected.

This is the third in the MC series by CM. I enjoyed it but felt like it was missing something. I think this time around the humor just seemed to mask so much of the seriousness in the evolution of the story. The Devil Chaser’s are still trying to survive and make a name for themselves. We didn’t get a ton of development on this side which I would have liked to see more of. The main focus was on Maya and how her issues were bleeding into their issues at the same time. She has secrets that even they didn’t realize what they stumbled upon.
Axle survived and continues to survive every day. He’s not sure what to make of Maya and her crazy humor at odd times. She brings this light to the darkness and her coping mechanism slowly bleeds into him and sticks. Soon he realizes that nothing will keep her safer that him by her side. Of course the big, brooding biker has to battle a lot of internal demons as well as external forces to get the girl.
Maya is a roller skating psycho. She is quirky and finds a certain light in dire circumstances. When push comes to shove she is completely wicked in retaliation and survival. She chooses to be some good in the messed up life she was born to. Axle is an enigma to her and one she falls in love with at first sight I believe. While she knows what she wants it takes a lot for her to give in after being burned.
Overall this was a good story. It’s a 4 for me because while I enjoyed it, it left me not quite satisfied for the series as a whole. It will be continuing on and I’m anxious for Sara’s story. If you are looking for a different MC read, I do recommend this and know that a lot of people with love it.
