Megan O’Brien is one of my top authors. Her newest release is on KU! Can I get a big WOOHOO for that one. I was thinking I’d have to wait to purchase it but lucky for me I could borrow it straight away. I also love that this is in Montana for parts of the story. Since I just visited that great state, I know all about the Big Sky and how stunningly gorgeous it is. Two of the pictures below, I took while out there.
It all started with The Ride Series for me. Her MC story was fantastic and came to an ending that had your heart yearning for more but left you full. Then she dove into Talon Security Series which started as a spinoff from Sam & Sid that we bet in Ryker’s book. We are three stories in and they just get better and better.
I will be honest, I’m struggling with my rating on this one. Normally her books are SPOT on with editing, formatting and proofing. This one was not the case. There was a whole paragraph where Charlotte was talking to Sarah and their names were switched. Very confusing. Another where clothing changed and it wasn’t easily mentioned and the Epilogue appeared as the next paragraph with no definitive heading or page break. This was a bit rough for me and so characteristically out of the norm for her books. That said, I’m going to review on content alone below, but now you know why even though I LOVE the story line, it’s probably a 4 star read for me.

Sarah is the secretary at Talon security. We start the story where she realizes she needs to disappear. I had to laugh because if you are like me, you talk to the characters in your head. I’m sitting here thinking, girl don’t you know they will find you, they are super secret squirrel ninjas LOL. The time flow of the story was very well handled. We pick up with Sarah a year later and everything just explodes in love, suspense, drama, hurt, regret, and the future. I really liked how she grew as a character. She became stronger and more confident as the story went on.
Theo had his eye on Sarah the whole time. He never let her go even when she thought she was running away. His strong stubborn nature came in handy when he finally went and claimed Sarah. He was written to be loyal, respectful, and vulnerable. I really liked watching how he struggled to come to terms with things that happened. Of course he was all big and bossy when it counted and would go to the ends of the earth for Sarah.
The secondary characters were all there, but we got to meet some new ones as well. I enjoyed how Sarah’s family was woven into this one. It was great to break up some of the tension with the story. Overall it was a great addition to the series and minus the errors, one of my favorites by her to date.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m going to focus on the positives of this story, but wanted to say this. I was disappointed that there were so many editing/proofing errors. It’s a first for this author that I have seen so many. Normally her books are spot on. It is the only reason for the deduction because parts, you really had to re-read to be certain who was supposed to be speaking, what they were wearing, and trying to say.
All that aside, this is one of my favorites by Megan to date. Theo and Sarah take the cake for me as a couple in this series. Their dynamics are spot on and you can feel the love, devotion, and yearning need bleeding from the pages. Theo shows Sarah that his world rises and sets with her. It’s a heady combination when you add in his territorial need to protect and save her from her demons. Sarah just has to learn to trust in Theo and to let it go. She grows so much from the shy, scared, vulnerable girl into a confident woman by the end of the story. I was so proud of her by the end. It really pulled you in to see her becoming the lion and not the lamb.
We get to catch up with all the Talon Security folks, and if this is your first story, you won’t be lost. You can catch up with them in this book and not feel left out. Sarah’s parents and sister bring an extra flair to the mix. It had humor, love, and soul as you read. I really hope we see more of Charlotte and Owen as the series continues. I would recommend this to a friend.
