This was yet another SS book club pick. It was another short read. It has former military, sort of second chance, surprises and romance. It was a short read for me and overall it was cute but I felt like it was missing something for me. I’m not sure I can place my finger on what was missing but it just needed something.
Reid is back in his home town and out of the military. He has no interest in HEA but one note from a little birds lips and he realized he could go for a fun time. What happened after made him realize it could be something more but also could explode upon impact.
Robin had a chip on her shoulder when it came to Reid. There were secrets that were left buried and battles to overcome.
There were some twists in this story that I didn’t expect. I give Bella props for keeping me on my toes. While I suspected some things, there where surprises that I was like OOOHHH WOW.

Reid has a past and it’s about to come and bite him in the rear in the form of a little sister. He never expected it to happen but lust is a dangerous thing and brings his world crashing into Robin’s.
She has her own secrets that she wants to keep hidden. I liked her sass and how she interacted with Reid. She was a strong character in the short time we got to know her. I really liked that in this short story we got to see her hard work and dreams. She wasn’t weak in my opinion and I liked that.
Overall I thought it was an enjoyable read. There were surprises that I liked, but I felt like I was missing something. I’m not sure what, but almost just wanted a bit more as a reader. That said, I would definitely recommend this story if someone is looking for a good quick read.
