This is another author I found through a paranormal giveaway. When I entered, I signed up for her newsletter and when she sent one, I picked this short story to read. I read it in about an hour but found this cute tale to be enjoyable.
Brenin is the leader of their pack and a bear shifter. He is dead set on never finding a mate. Well he won’t have to worry about finding her because the Fae of the forest have a different plan. She collapses at his paws.
Charlotte isn’t sure what to believe when she gets lost in the woods. Little does she know that her life is about to change. She has so much in her life that has caused her pain, she finds it hard to believe Brenin would be looking at her the way he does.
The Fae bring a new mix to this series. I am intrigued to see what happens in the next series with them. I plan to check out the next one in the series. For me, I wanted more (isn’t that always the case) from some of the side characters and main characters in this story. I think if I had just a little more it would have been a 5 star for me. I really wanted to know more about Aiyana. It’s a HFN ending which I don’t find bothersome in the least. It left it open in a good way that would hopefully have you moving to read book 2. You can snag this story on KU.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a neat twist on paranormal mates. This was a cute short read. I enjoyed it. There were some questions I had but I feel with this being book 1 some might be answered in the next one.
Charlotte in all honesty was alone. She came into Brenin’s world scared and cold. I liked how she grew as a character. She had some insecurities and while she tried to fight them, they still plagued her until Brenin came along.
There was humor in the pack with this story. I enjoyed the banter and mix of shifters and fae. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a quick short paranormal read with a HEA.
