The Morgan family is back. It is Colby’s chance at love, life, and happily ever after. I had to sit on this review for a long time. There are so many things I want to say, but I hate spoilers (said in River Song’s voice). I am going to try and cover this story below without giving it away. I hope my review does justice and that you will check this story out. Lauren is a fabulous author. One thing about her is she pours her heart and soul into her books. The details she researches down to the tiniest particle to include in her stories is what makes them unique.

While it was hard to read the first three chapters, it was worth the pain to find the beauty. I cried reading this, that makes 4 books to move me to tears. I will say that there is no greater sound than that of velcro coming undone for a LEO wife. This story hit home on what my biggest fears and nightmares are. It was almost cathartic reading this to overcome fears of unknown evils.

This story took my heart, ripped it out, blended it, then stitched it back together at an agonizingly slow pace, piece by piece. Much like Lydia and Colby had to be hand built back up, brick by brick. I was moved beyond what words can convey with this story.

This is a quick love/lust attraction but their journey is anything but quick. The road they travel down is beautiful, passionate, and fortified with a strength to withstand a hurricane.
Lydia was an easy character to relate to. She had strength and vulnerabilities that she had to overcome without the help of anyone. She fought hard to overcome the ghosts that haunted her. She was very well written and everything she battles was done on a realistic timeline. It didn’t feel rushed as the story evolved.

Colby rushed into the fire with everything he was made of. He had to pause and look at his struggles and Lydia’s in an unhurried light. I liked how he handled himself, but then again all the Morgan’s are written in a way to melt your heart.

I love Momma Lou, she has this charm and whit. It was great to see the matriarch of the Morgan’s in the story. All of the Morgan’s were present for this tale and it was fantastic. Lauren did a fantabulous job of blending the timelines seamlessly. Made me want to read them all again from the beginning.
This can be read as a standalone and you won’t be lost. Of course, this is an author I would recommend reading everything she writes.

This blogger gives it 5 pointe shoes and it would make the perfect addition to your library.
