I was asked to check out this story before it released. I held the post until release day, but what a great story! It is part of a series, but I read this as a standalone. I was not lost, and could not wait to see how Zoe unfolded the tale.
There is a lot with this tale of Gods, Goddesses, witches, and warlocks. It may feel like information overload, but Zoe gave it to you in just the right way that you weren’t overwhelmed.
Shannon is a Pleiades witch. She is tasked with keeping the last of her kind safe. Returning home she runs in to Jason Merck. She doesn’t realize the battle of her life is coming to a head and the one to save her is the man she doesn’t want to give a second chance to.
Merck is hit with a blast from his past. He is not sure what to do, he knows that his life will never be the same without Shannon in it. Merck is the enforcer who kills the evil and nasty that go bump in the night.
There are so many things I feel like divulging them would be a spoiler. The powers Shannon comes in to are incredible and how she just absorbs them and knows they will get her through. I love her tenacity of it all and how she doesn’t settle or quit. Even when it causes strain on her family she pushes to rise above all of it. Jason helps her but in turn helps himself. He has some dark secrets in his past that even he wasn’t fully aware of. I fell in love with this character. Zoe packed some depth into him and strength about not giving up.
What I really enjoyed in this story is how they both grew stronger together. It was a journey unlike any other. I have not read the previous three in the series and was not lost at all. If anything it makes me want to go read the others!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I could not put this book down. It captured my attention from the very beginning. I was excited to see where the story took me and if there would be a HEA at the end. I don’t want to post spoilers but there are a lot of key players and subplots to unfold. It genuinely kept me interested throughout the story. I didn’t feel like the moments taken to explain took away or slowed down the flow of the second chance romance.
Jason and Shannon take a chance that the second time around might be the HEA they want or it might end them all. Shannon doesn’t know what to make of the powers she’s coming in to or of what the future will hold. She just knows that she cannot give up without a fight or a battle. I admire her strength to step up and willingness to survive. Merck is coming to understand the and accept his fate. Little does he know that fate will put him on a path and course he could never expect.
This second chance romance was different than others that I have read. I enjoyed their story as it unfolded. If you love witches, warlocks, Gods, Goddesses, then I highly recommend this story to you.
