I have several unicorn authors, one that has become my fave is Gillian Jones. If you’ve been following me, you know her story Tainted by Love is hands down my favorite read of 2017. Well she took a break from the serious moments to bring us Love Won. This romantic second chance story will have you laughing, crying from laughter, and getting the feels.
This new twist on the Hatfield and McCoy will have you laughing and melting your heart. The author spun this story in to three parts. She said, he said, they said. I loved how she gave us different perspectives on this second chance romance.
Eastlyn Hatfield doesn’t know what to make of McCoy Graves. He waltzes into her primary school and she knows it’s love at first sight. Eastlyn takes us on her journey of growth from being 12 to being an adult. I think anyone who had an awkward growing phase will relate to her take on tween years into early adulthood. I found so many moments I was mortified right along with her. I wanted to swallow her up in a hole as she lamented in her diary all the horrid things McCoy did. We really get a feel for Eastlyn’s personality as she grows up and becomes a teacher. Her best friend Kami is by her side and the sisterly banter they have will remind you of your own bestie.
McCoy gets his turn to tell the story and what a way he tells it. You will shake your head at some of his antics. You are like, yup, there’s a whole lot of penis logic going on in this thought process. He does come to her rescue when needed which will have you standing and cheering for him. McCoy will also play dirty as he tries to end the feud started so long ago.
The secondary characters were just as fun to meet as the main ones. Keaton and Kami had me smirking and laughing with their denial of each other, but also their push to get Eastlyn and McCoy together. Eastlyn’s Mom and Dad are fantastic! OMG definitely rolling with laughter with the Mom and her baking.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Are you looking for your next romantic comedy? If so, then this book is for you. You will laugh as the Hatfield and McCoy feud turns from hate to love. Second chances are available as Eastlyn Hatfield and McCoy Graves are reunited. After an awkward childhood crush falls apart, Eastlyn tries to figure out where to get her HEA. She crashes into McCoy in the most unlikely place that had me rolling in laughter. When fate seems to step in Eastlyn is out of options as McCoy makes it harder to hate him. Find out how her crush began with her POV covering many awkward years we can relate to.
McCoy shouldn’t fall for Eastlyn she’s his best friend’s kid sister. Years after the secretive night, he has a chance to make a move. I loved having his perspective on so much. It was a great switch in the story to see how it unfolds with what he felt from his POV.
All the different phrases and ways to have double meaning were hilarious. Sploshing, laser tag, and kino. You won’t know it until you read!
I had so many laugh out loud moments with this story. All the characters, even secondary ones were fantastically written. It was a perfect mix of second chance, brother’s best friend, semi-hate to love romance. I couldn’t put it down and found I wanted to keep reading more about them. I definitely recommend this story.
