Paranormal reading fun from the September SS book club. This is the first story in T.S. Joyce’s Saw Bears series. This is my second book by this author. The story is super short. I read it in about an hour.  While I enjoyed the story, I found myself wanting a bit more from it.
Brooke has had a troubled history that she is escaping. Needing to feel again, she takes advice from a mentor to get away. Brooke had an artist soul and heart. Overcoming her fears was not going to happen overnight. She had to fight for her future and overcome all that happened to her. I liked her reasoning and struggles that she goes through internally.
Tagan is the beta and pissed to find out Brooke will be staying in his trailer. He is grumpy and angry and you feel like he suits the grumpy bear persona perfectly. As the story moves along, he realizes that not having Brooke around will be more harmful than her being there. He really had to step up in this story and it was so sudden that I was like; wait…what?
Meredith I felt like we would know more about her in a different T.S. series, but I definitely wanted more about this woman. She was, from the brief moment, witty, fierce, and all about family. The phone call she had with Tagan regarding Brooke’s past gave me warm feels and a few fist pumps.
Overall it was a good read, but it was QUICK. I kept wanting to pull more from the story. That said, I did enjoy meeting the other bears and could see myself reading the rest of the series in the future.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I found this short story a good read. It’s a four star for me because I wanted so much more. I felt like the ending was rushed as well as not a lot of background on the characters. I just overall wanted there to be more substance and content. That said what I liked about this story is below.
I enjoyed Brooke’s character. How she fought to overcome the internal demons and external nightmares when they came out in the night. I like how she adapted to her surroundings and started to give her own perception of all the Werebear guys.
Tagan was an interesting beta and at the end….I was like WHOA! He definitely stepped up and stood up for Brooke in a way that had you swooning.
Meredith was great and I really wanted so much more from her character. I thought she played more of a role when reading between the lines. I also enjoyed the secondary characters as well.
Again, I enjoyed the story, but really wanted more with this one. It left me feeling longing for more character development and stuff in-between the big moment and the ending.
