I won this book in a giveaway on FB. It was around Christmas time, and I figured I could snuggle up with the read. F.G. Adams is a new author for me. I have to admit that this story fell a little flat for me. I would definitely read a different story by F.G. Adams as I think it was just this particular one that was lacking.
I felt lost for the first 30% of the book. It was very confusing as a reader to figure out how everyone came in to play. There was one point where a comment was made about a girl missing and I’m like, wait, what, did I miss something?!? Not sure if I read it wrong, or the section lead you to believe something bad had happened.
I’ll lead with the bad, and now will follow with the good. The first several chapters just royally confused me and I was lost. The references to the past, and so much of it, created a confusing back story as opposed to clarifying Michael’s past. I almost could have done without it all. Maybe just a small bit that he was pining for the girl lost vs. the confusion.
Holly comes crashing into Michael’s life. She was bright, cheery, spunky, and full of so much life.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a 3.5 rounded to 4 star read for me. The first portion of the book threw me. I was SO lost. Once it got to the point where Holly fell into Michael’s life, it picked up and made it more enjoyable to read.
Holly is so bright and cheery in this story. I love how she is the complete opposite of Michael. She has had a long-standing crush on the man, and when her clumsiness works to her advantage, she will try to win him over. I really liked Holly. She was a great character and easy to relate to.
Michael … I had a harder time getting into his character. I think if I hadn’t been so confused, it would have gone better. He is the grouchy man who HATES Christmas. The positive is once he focuses on Holly, it’s amazing how he and the story progresses.
It was a cute read for me.

It’s great that it picked up afterwards, or it would have been a very lacking reading experience. Christmas books are always cool, though! Amazing review 🙂
Thanks so much! I agree, Christmas books are always a fave of mine to read.
Agree, that this book was a good read for the Holidays!!
