I know there are several Misadventure stories out there, but this is the first one I’ve read. Lauren is not a new author to me. I can’t even remember how I found her, but I’m glad I did. According to Goodreads, I read the first book in The Club series August of 2015! Since then, anything Lauren has written, I have consumed. She narrates her audio books too! Can I say fan-freaking-tastic. Ball Peen Hammer was my first audible by her, and if I can save up to get more, won’t be my last! One thing I always enjoy about Lauren’s works, is how she weaves everything into an amazing story. The heart, passion, LIFE, and love in her stories will forever make her an automatic purchase for me. I cannot say enough about this and cannot wait to share my review of Zooey & Tyler below.
What to say about this book. HOLY GUACAMOLE!!! I can’t even form thoughts for this review but will give it my best. All I can say is Lauren SLAYED it with this book. I am a huge fan of her work, but this one might be up there as an all time fave. It had humor, heart-felt moments, gut wrenching ones, and lots of love.
Zooey is away from home and the quintessential freshman college girl. She is reaching for her dreams and trying to live. Watching her meet Tyler for the first time … hilarious. I could relate to her on so many levels. She acted her age, and completely melted your heart throughout this story. She is the girl next door, the force to reckon with, and the glue that holds your heart together. I loved her wit and burst of nerdy brilliance.
Tyler was captured just as any star of college would have been. He had so many layers to him that deep down, his heart was pure gold. Just the way he came through the pages, you will be swooning and wanting a Tyler of your own.
Lauren captured this tale beautifully. There are so many little nuances, that I’m sure if I read it again, I will find even more to fall in love with. I was so surprised but happy to have the ending she gave us. It was fitting and made me have squishy gooey feels.
If you are a fan of epic reads with heart, passion, and laughs, then you need to get this book. As always a fantastic read.
