Alicia is an author after my own heart. This story mirrors some of a fave musical, Kiss me, Kate. She put her own spin on the story and it turned out beautifully. This is part of a series and while you could read by itself, I highly recommend the entire Blackstone series. Alicia is quickly becoming a favorite paranormal author.
Kate Caldwell is independent, strong, loyal, and fun. She is living life and enjoying all it has to offer. Her spirit helps her stay closed off with matter of the heart. When Petros comes to Blackstone Kate will fight him every step of the way. She has her reasons and will have to learn to trust Petros with her heart and past.
Petros hasn’t had an easy life. There are many things that haunt him. When Kate walks in, he is hit with all his dreams coming true. He has to learn the way to Kate’s heart is not the conventional way. He too must learn to open up and let Kate in. However, his past comes at him in a way that pulls him in two. I loved how the inner turmoil was captured and how even if it would cause him pain he’d do what’s right. There are more secrets and questions revealed in this story. We have new characters who come into Blackstone and its hard to tell if they are friend or foe.
As more stories in this series unfold we get to see all our favorite characters and catch up with the bustling town of Blackstone. Alicia weaves this story in a way that has you wishing the characters and town are real. I love Rosie’s for dinner, lol.
While Kate and Petros’s story was on the short side it was not lacking. I laughed, felt for them, and cheered them on. The only thing I’m craving from Alicia is Milos! I need to know!
For my love of musicals and shifters, I’m giving this 5 pointe shoes. The plot is well done, the storyline is engaging, and the characters are well developed. As always Alicia keeps it fresh and still surprises me.
