I’m back in Roughneck territory. Chelsea brought us back to Texas, where everything is sweeter. This is a super short read, I read it on lunch break. One thing I always love about Chelsea’s stories is the men are real. They work real jobs and are just honorable decent guys. I enjoy how she makes a love story feel real. Showing that real everyday acts and gestures make the heart happy.
Wendol has had it rough. Fate took matters into its own hands and he couldn’t help. Now he’s helping and finding a way to gove back. One night sparks flew in his life but at the same time, they burned. When second chances come around not just in love but protecting, Wendol steps up and acts.
Jessika is a survivor. I liked how even with the past she didn’t let it stop her. Her attitude was great and I found joy in her. The relationship she had with Kenzi was just the push she needed to take a chance. She goes out of her comfort zone and gets the second chance to fall for the good guy.
Everyone in this story was there for Wendol and Jessika. It was the show of support and what really mattered.
All the favorites were back. They brought the meaning of family to the story.
This story while short packs a lot in it. There is backstory, a good flow, and resolution. If you are looking for a feel-good romance, then definitely check it out. As far as short stories go this is a good one to fall into. My only snag was I wanted to know if Wendol knew what happened to Jessika. That was all I needed to make this a 5 pointe shoe read. I’m giving it 4 pointe shoes but would recommend this quick read as well as the rest of the series.
